Kate was born in Lusaka (Zambia) the same year as the country became Independent, but moved to Zimbabwe at the age of two. In 1983, Kate married and moved to Malawi for 6 years. It was there that the aviation bug first bit.
Kate moved to Aberdeen in Scotland with her husband and two children in 1989; and started working for a helicopter company in Scotland’s oil capital. Her passion for aviation grew as her experience in the various sectors of the business did, and in 1998, after gaining a variety of aviation orientated qualifications, Kate embarked on an MBA degree, which was completed in 2001.
In the midst of studying, Kate made the switch from Rotary Winged aircraft to Fixed Wing Aircraft, firstly for Gama Aviation, who operated the Scottish Air Ambulance in Aberdeen, and thereafter with Eastern Airways, a regional airline servicing the East coast of the United Kingdom.
In 2005, Kate accepted a challenge to return to Africa for Servisair, a Ground Handling Company based in the UK, who, at the time had a branch in Namibia which needed to some attention. Namibia became another passion, and after marrying Deon in 2009, she embarked on a 5 year stint as the General Manager Ground Operations and Postholder for Air Namibia.
Kate is thrilled to have joined Wilderness Air in Namibia, which encompasses her passions for both Aviation and for Namibia. She believes her experience and positive attitude to the future of the company will help to move Wilderness Air forward toward its visions.
